BUYER BEWARE

Now some breeders are advertising their dogs as an International Or National Champion. “THIS IS NOT AN AKC CHAMPION”. It is not recognized by the AKC. Ask to see the AKC pedigree with their seal on it. If the Ch. is not in front of the dog’s name on the AKC pedigree than the dog is NOT an AKC Champion. Many of the pedigrees are made by the breeder or some other registry other than the AKC. To obtain an AKC Champion it takes many shows for the dog to earn their points. With an International, National or an IBACA Champion it just takes one weekend. It is totally different and that it can be earned with no other competition and with very little quality. Here is the link on how these people obtain those kind of titles. http://www.internationaldogshow.com/Title%20Requirements.htm . Then check out the AKC site at www.AKC.org and see the requirements. DO NOT BE FOOLED by breeders claiming to have an AKC Champion or a pedigree that has Ch. In front of a dog’s name. It is just other way to sell a puppy to an uneducated buyer, making him think that this is an AKC Champion puppy they are purchasing.

Do not purchase a puppy less than 8 weeks old. The puppies still needs the mother’s milk to build an immune system. Some breeders wean the puppies too early or not at all so that they can sell them at 5 to 6 weeks old. Make sure that the puppy has had its first shot & wormed before you purchase it.

Make sure it is AKC registered. There are many clubs out there such as the UKC, CKC and etc. Many of these clubs register mix breeds such as a lab-doddle. They are then calling it a new breed. The ONLY way to make sure that you have a true breed is with the AKC.

Make sure you get some guarantee with the puppy you purchase. This insures that you are not getting an unhealthy puppy.
